Chinese Paper Cutting

LEE JIA YI JESSICA

Chinese Paper Cutting is a traditional folk art that reflects Chinese culture, history, and craftsmanship through intricate patterns and symbolic designs. This project reimagines the beauty of paper cutting by transforming its distinctive motifs, layered compositions, and cultural symbolism into a contemporary character IP and collectible merchandise. Inspired by traditional elements such as floral patterns, auspicious symbols, and decorative cut-out techniques, the project aims to introduce this heritage art form to younger generations in a fun, engaging, and meaningful way. By blending cultural storytelling with modern illustration and product design, the project encourages appreciation, preservation, and pride in the rich artistic legacy of Chinese paper cutting.
